"Secrets of the Voynich" Skypecast (Take 2)

After some technical difficulties with the first Voynich Skypecast (*sigh*), Nick Pelling has a second one scheduled for Monday 1st Jan 2007, at 20:30 GMT (12:30 PST etc).

It's a "hidden" Skypecast, which means that it won't be visible in the skype.com listings or on the "Live" tab within Skype - anyone wishing to join in should click here, which has a direct link to the hidden page. Once the Skypecast is scheduled to begin, a "Join this Skypecast" link should appear on the page - click on this to join the discussion.

Hope to see/hear you then! :-)

"The Curse of the Voynich" book launch...?

How should we launch our splendid book? In many ways, Compelling Press is approaching book publishing back-to-front:-

* We're starting small, guerilla-style (aiming to grow demand as we go)
* We're printing on demand (so that we can make rapid changes to the content)
* We're collecting real endorsements (not the fake ones many books sport)
* We're launching a paperback original (what use are hardbacks for most people?)

Following the logic through, what use is a launch party? Perhaps should we concentrate on making publishing the book worthwhile by making sure people buy it and read it, and then have a success party where everyone is invited?

What do you think?
